Center has initiated international cooperation since 1995 within international foundations and programs (International Science and Technology Center, NASA, US National Academy of Sciences, DARPA, DOE/IPP, USDA, CRF, CTR, etc. The objective of the cooperation to conduct research in the field of molecular biology, gene engineering, biotechnology, medicine, ecology, veterinary science and biological safety.

On-going international projects are approved and supported by the Ministry of Education and Science, RF.

Center is actively collaborating with the International Science and Technology Center, whose activities support basic and applied research and developments of modern technologies, stimulate integration of CIS scientists and specialists into international scientific community and assist in solving different national and international technology tasks.

ISTC – Non-Proliferation Through Scientific Collaboration

The International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) was established in compliance to the Intergovernmental Agreement in November, 1992.
Partnership activities through the ISTC allow the realization of initiatives and programs offered by governmental agencies, private industrial companies, and international organizations, strengthening thus a direct collaboration of scientists and promoting their long-term integration along with mutual benefits for all participants. The program involving science and technology projects is a large-scale form of non-proliferation activities that the ISTC is implementing. In the framework of this program the ISTC asks for science and technology project proposals from institutions of different CIS countries and provides funds, as well as organization and technology support, for participating institutions.
Project teams receives the Governmental Concurrence in a written form from the government on whose territory a research is going to be conducted followed by elaborating and implementing the project in conjunction with foreign collaborators.
Foreign collaborators guarantee that project objectives will stimulate the development of a certain field of research, and results obtained will be applied to solving urgent tasks both of basic and applied sciences.
In the framework of this program the ISTC has provided funds for hundreds of project teams and attracted 51000 scientists from CIS countries to scientific activities for peaceful purposes.
Provisions for institutions participating in the science and technology project program are stated in obligatory project Agreements between the ISTC and the management of CIS institutions.
In the framework of the project agreement CIS participants are paid with grants and provided with tax/customs fee - free equipment for conducting research. Project agreements also contain terms for conducting on-site technology inspections and audits under projects to meet financial and science and technology requirements. Members of the ISTC Management along with representative of Parties participate in project audits on a regular basis.
